As an award winning artist with over 20 years experience in competition, shows, and instruction, Lisabeth Curnow is fairly new to the world of plein air painting. After joining the Mid Michigan Art Guild in 2016, she was invited to paint with fellow artists at a local park. Since then she has participated in many plein air workshops, exhibitions, and competitions throughout Michigan, and has successfully taken on many 30 day painting from life challenges.
With a focus on capturing light and detail, Lisabeth's watercolor paintings feature plein air landscapes, intimate still lifes, portraits of animals, and people. She especially enjoys the unique challenges of watercolor – protecting the light requires careful planning and often a little faith.
“Art is emotion, it is a vulnerable interaction between myself and viewer. It stirs the senses – hopefully all of them. We're having a conversation and sharing those memories and experiences that connect us to one another. My artwork reflects my sensitivity to everything around me. I hope that you will see that there is beauty in familiarity, there is comfort in sentimental things, and it's the light that brings it all to life.”
