I love rural scenes like this. It's part of the reason I enjoy painting the Grand Traverse area. I was standing in tree shadow across the road, looking at the rolling hills, farmhouses, and a beautiful cloudscape. As a side note: originally, there were cows on the hill that I wanted to include in the painting, but they moved to the faraway shade while I was setting up, so they didn't get painted.
