It was a day with particularly fierce winds. I was worried my easel was going to snap in half! I needed to paint this scene though. The American flag was wrapped around the boat from the wind and I loved how the rope was holding tight. It just seemed like a very real moment that might not be picture perfect but has so much beauty within it.
