Experience the magic of painting a nocturne under the stars in Sutton’s Bay. Join artist Debra Howard for an evening of plein air painting, where you’ll discover the rich, jewel-toned colors, dynamic compositions, and dramatic perspectives unique to nocturnes. In this one-night workshop, you’ll learn:

• The secrets of a nocturne’s distinctive palette, where shadows shift and black is left behind.
• How to harness artificial light and extreme values for striking results.
• Techniques to create bold, captivating compositions.

Suttons Bay offers an ideal setting with safe, well-lit locations and easy parking. Bring your standard painting gear and a couple of easel lights. We’ll begin before dark with a discussion and demonstration, then paint as night falls.

If weather is not cooperating the workshop will be postponed and rescheduled the following night.
