Mary Ann Davis enjoys the challenge of painting on location and has a reputation as one of Indiana’s premier Plein Air (outdoor) painters. Her paintings celebrate nature, emphasizing color and atmosphere. Her works have been included in Plein Air Magazine, American Art Review, Pastel Journal and Southwest Art magazines and two Painting Indiana books: Painting Indiana II, The Changing Face of Agriculture and Painting Indiana III, Heritage of Place.
Mary Ann exhibits widely, winning top awards. Her willingness to share knowledge has earned her a reputation as an outstanding artist and instructor. She is a signature member of the American Impressionist Society, Plein Air Artists Colorado and the Chicago Pastel Painters.
Her work can be seen at Gallery Two and the Hoosier Salon Gallery in Indianapolis, Castle Gallery in Fort Wayne, and the Greenwich House Gallery, OH.

What has plein air painting taught you about yourself? That I can take care of myself in adverse situations, like flat tires in the middle of nowhere, unfriendly dogs, cows and horses.
What is the furthest you have traveled for your art/plein air? New Mexico
Can you share a fond, or unusual, memory of plein air painting? There are so many, I have met the best folks. I was so grateful that a group of artists came to my rescue when I dropped my phone down the sewer. Artists are the best at improvising solutions.
What is a recent thing that you painted or drew a picture of? Poppies
What is your favorite plein air subject, location or time of the year to plein air paint? I love fields of color, creeks and woods.
What is something that looks fun that you want to try? Skydiving
