Jeff is a lifelong Cleveland illustrator/watercolorist. Traditionally trained, with the advent of the computer came a whole new way of creating commercial art, and the ensuing years of late-night problem solving, eyeballs to screen and pen to digital tablet resulted in a longing to return to the real deal of paint on paper. Returning to his painting roots, Jeff took lessons from local Cleveland illustrator legend Bob Moyer, who helped him understand how wet one has to work and how to let the paint talk back to you if only you’ll listen. From there, plein air happened. There’s nothing like being on location. Simplifying and organizing the sensory overload one receives in the field and in the moment is a constant struggle and the challenge never gets old. Each painting is its own time and space machine, with a link to artists past and present, long before the advent of photography.
